About the project

ICSI Clinic is a specialized reproductive medicine center based in Kyiv, Ukraine.

The website was developed by a multidisciplinary team and launched in late 2019 as a multi-page medical platform with a complex content structure.

The project included a large volume of medical, informational, and service-related content, requiring careful handling of terminology and consistency across pages.

{?}

Task

At the time of engagement, the website operated as a bilingual system with Russian as the primary language.

The goal was to introduce a full Ukrainian language version within the existing system.

The scope of work included:

  • translation of website content into Ukrainian;
  • creation of Ukrainian-language page versions;
  • content adaptation within the CMS;
  • ensuring consistency of medical terminology and tone;
  • working directly inside a live WordPress environment.

The scope was strictly limited to content localization and in-system implementation.

{*}

Implementation

The work was performed directly in the live WordPress environment using the existing WPBakery + qTranslate setup.

This required:

  • manual creation and population of language versions;
  • duplication and adaptation of page content;
  • working within a non-standard multilingual structure;
  • maintaining structural consistency across multiple page types;
  • careful handling of existing layouts and content blocks without breaking the page structure.

Unlike external file-based localization workflows, all work was carried out inside a live production system, requiring precision and consistency across multiple pages.

Result

  • A complete Ukrainian-language version of the website was implemented;
  • Content was adapted with consistent terminology across sections;
  • The multilingual structure was extended within the existing system without affecting its stability;
  • The website was successfully launched with two language versions.

Notes

This case represents precise work within an existing system rather than development from scratch.

The key challenge was accurate localization while preserving layout integrity in a legacy setup (WPBakery + qTranslate).

Since its launch in 2019, the website has undergone significant technical and content changes (theme, plugins, frontend structure), implemented by other team members.

As a result, the current live version differs from the system used during this project.
